DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WORK

Any graduate with 50 % aggregate marks for Part I, Part II and Part III subjects
Why BVM for MSW?
(i) Tie up with Kudumbashree Mission of the Government of Kerala and the various panchayats and NGOs for field work and training programmes.
(ii) Tie up with renowned NIMHANS HOSPITAL, Bangalore, for personality development training and curriculum exposure programmes.
(iii) Active placement cell – 100 % of our last batch students are placed in various organizations.
(iv) Block placement in renowned institutions outside Kerala like AIIMS Delhi, Holy Family Hospital New Delhi, NIMHANS Bangalore, Chethanalaya Delhi, Sion Hospital Bombay, PGSS Bombay, etc.
(v) Rural camp with field survey, trekking, study of the life of the community etc. The rural camp of 2008-2009 batch was conducted at Meenangadi, Wayanad in October 2008 with a visit to Adivasi kudi, trekking, cultural programmes in community, free Medical camp for local community, etc. The camp for 2009-2010 batch was conducted at Wagamon in October 2009.
(vi) Nature camp to inculcate the spirit of conservation of environment in the students.
(vii) HOPES – an NGO functioning in the college as ‘Live Lab’ for the students.
(viii) Opening to innovative fields and programme like ‘Care Pala’ programme of NRHM wing of General Hospital, Pala.
(ix) Tie up with Kerala State AIDS control society.
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
M.Sc. Computer Science
Number of seats : 25
B.Sc. Degree with Maths / Comp.Sc. / Electronics / IT as one of the subjects ( Main or Subs ) or BCA / B.Tech. Degree with not less than 55 % marks in optional subjects.
Number of seats : 60 ( Six Semesters )
Pass in Plus Two / equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Computer Science as optional. Candidates who have passed CBSE XII Exam with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics Practice can also apply.
(i) International Certification in Redhat and training in modern technologies of IT like .Net, PHP, etc.
(ii) 5 recruitment drives for M.Sc. and 4 recruitment drives for BCA were conducted by the college during 2008-2009. 2 recruitment drives for M.Sc. and 3 recruitment drives for BCA were conducted by the college during 2009-2010.
(iii) More than 40 % students of final year BCA and 80 % students of M.Sc. Computer Science were placed in top IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Emphazis, CSS, etc. Our aim is to make 100 % placement at the end of the course.
(iv) Regular personality development programmes.
(v) Training for mathematical aptitude and reasoning ability tests, interview and group discussion by International trainers.
(vi) A CD library is arranged to make students familiar with the recent trends in Information Technology.
DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
Number of seats : 30
B.Sc. Mathematics main or B.Sc. Statistics main with not less than 55% marks in the concerned optional subject including subsidiaries
B.Sc. Mathematics with Computer Science and Statistics subs.
Number of seats : 60
B.Sc. Course ( Six semesters ) – Excellent for recruitment to IT companies. 5 students of 2007-2010 batch recruited in WIPRO.
Pass in Plus Two / equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Mathematics as one of the subjects in Commerce group.
(i) Diploma in Mathematical Computing using Computing packages like Excel, MATLAB, etc.
(ii) Regular training for Mathematical aptitude and reasoning ability tests for competitive tests, group discussion and interview.
(iii) Wider scope and field for further studies in comparison to BCA.
(iv) Effective Mathematical Quiz club.
(v) Individual instruction and caring.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE
B.Com. with Computer Application ( Model II )
Number of seats : 60
Pass in Plus Two / equivalent exam with commerce subject or in other subjects under Part III optional, provided they have secured not less than 45 % of aggregate marks.
(i) Certification in practical Accounting and Tally 9.
(ii) Active placement cell.
(iii) Specialized lectures on latest trends by top level business and management experts.
(iv) Regular recruitment drives by reputed firms like KGiSL, Infosys, JRG Securities, etc.
Well-equipped library with 4692 books, 11 International journals, 12 National journals and career journals, apart from weeklies and Newspapers.
A professional well-trained counsellor is present in the college, one full day in a week.
We have a well established Language Lab with audio and multimedia equipments for learning Spoken English. It assists the students to increase their four basic skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing.
NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
Two units – activities: Legal awareness programme, seminars, cultural activities, construction of vegetable garden, nature camp, special 7 day camp.
The college parliament is functioning very well. The union election is conducted in the parliamentary system.
