 Holy Cross Providential Enlightenment Service (Reg. No. K-70/08) is the social outreach wing of BVM Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal. Our NGO carries out social welfare activities with professionally trained social work students headed by the Department of Social Work assuring the holistic development of the society.

Vision: Just and self reliant society with highly resourceful people living in harmony and mutual help.

Mission: To serve as a coordinating body committed to promote, support and sustain the socio-economic developmental initiatives of the poor and the marginalized.


Vismayam: Community Mental Health Programme

  • Vismayam aims at progressive mental health of the community through awareness creation among school children.
  • Vismayam facilitates the promotion of mental health and prevention of mental disorders.

Counseling and Career Guidance

  • We offer counseling and career guidance to students from any institutions keeping in mind the path to excellence.  
  • Expert counselors and mentors are available for the students.

Sundara Gramam: Green Village

  •  Project Sundara Gramam aims at creating green villages that sticks to the basics of environment protection. Through awareness classes and conscientization programs people are enlighted for an environmentally healthy living.

Research and Documentation

  •  HOPES run a research wing that identifies social problems and locates its root causes. We also undertake Government projects. Our recent research projects include:
  • Traditional Farming Technique: This aims at locating the traditional farming techniques that are at the verge of extinction and restore successful ones.

Research on the Needs of Differently Abled: The State Commissioner and Ex-Officio Secretary to the Government requested by order no. to collect data on the life situations of the differently abled and recommend measures to renew them. HOPES completed it successfully.

Project AXSHYA: TB Awareness Programme

    HOPES is engaged in the programs of Project AXSHYA – an attempt by CHAI to eradicate TB from our state. HOPES carries out awareness classes, surveys and community programs on this cause.

Child Education Sponsorship Program

Child Education Sponsorship Program is the flagship project of HOPES, providing educational support to the needy and marginalized children. Locating the financially backward pupils, HOPES mobilizes financial resources and provides them with study materials and extends mentoring services. Presently HOPES supports fifty students.

Village Adoption Programs

    HOPES adopts villages and caters to its multiple needs; primarily educational needs. HOPES identifies the communities that require a helping hand and extends its professional social work support to them.


  • HOPES conducts medical camps at selected locations, especially backward communities.
  •  Free check ups, diagnosis and medicines are provided to the beneficiaries
