INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)

 Every well run organisation defines its objectives, framework plan to achieve them and specify the checks and measures to evaluate the degree to which each of the tasks is fulfilled. Quality enhancement is the outcome of all these activities. For any educational institution, quality assurance is a major thrust, because it is only quality that matters as far as spread of knowledge is concerned. Therefore, in every educational institution, the set up of a committee entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring quality in its every task is the first step towards the internalization and institutionalization of quality enhancement. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) propose for every accredited institution establishment of an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). In pursuance of the National Action Plan of NAAC, BVM College has established its own IQAC.

The basic purposes of the IQAC are:

        a) To ensure continuous improvement in the entire operations of the institution.

       b)To assure stakeholders stay connected with higher education namely students, parents, teachers, staff, would-be employers, funding agencies and society in general.

Steering Committee

To supervise and implement the quality initiatives effectively, a three member steering committee is established consisting of Prof. Dr. T.T Devasia (Co-ordinator), Asst. Prof. Loju K Joy, Asst. Prof. Anu Pious.

Functions:

The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of the institution. The steering committee of IQAC meets several times in a year for deciding and implementing the following tasks:

  1. Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters.
  2. Dissemination of information on quality aspects.
  3. Organization of discussions, workshops, seminars and promotion of quality circles.
  4. Recording and monitoring   quality   measures   of the  
  5. Acting as a nodal agency of the institution for quality-related activities.
  6. Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report and such other reports as may be decided from time to time.
