Flood Relief

Objectives of the Practice

  • To offer emergency relief to those affected by the flood by providing essential supplies like food, clean water, clothing, and basic hygiene items.
  • To provide educational and psychosocial support to those whose lives have been disrupted, helping them regain stability and rebuild their futures.

The Context

During recent floods in Kerala, the college’s engagement in relief activities is grounded in a profound sense of social responsibility and community welfare. By mobilizing resources and personnel, the college aims to be a crucial part of the collaborative effort in ensuring the safety and well-being of those stranded. The provision of emergency relief and shelter aligns with the ethos of compassion, aiming to address the immediate needs of displaced individuals for sustenance, shelter, and hygiene. This not only mitigates the immediate suffering but also sets the foundation for a more robust recovery process. The commitment to community rehabilitation and other support stems from a recognition that the aftermath of a flood extends beyond the floodwaters’ recession, necessitating sustained efforts to rebuild lives, infrastructure, and communities. By offering essential supplies and creating temporary shelters, colleges become crucial pillars of support for displaced individuals, fostering a sense of security and stability in the aftermath of a flood.
