IQAC Profile

Every well-run organisation defines its objectives, framework plan to achieve them and specify the checks and measures to evaluate the degree to which each of the tasks is fulfilled. Quality enhancement is the outcome of all these activities. For any educational institution, quality assurance is a major thrust, because it is only quality that matters as far as the dissemination of knowledge is concerned. In every educational institution, a committee entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring quality in every task is the first step towards the internalization and institutionalization of quality enhancement. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) proposes the establishment of an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in every accredited institution. In pursuance of the National Action Plan of NAAC, Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College has established its own IQAC.

IQAC policy is devised with the focus to make quality the defining element at the institute through a combination of self and external quality evaluation and promotion initiatives


The basic purposes of the IQAC are:

  • To ensure continuous improvement in the entire operations of the institution.
  • To assure that the stakeholders stay connected with higher education namely students, parents, teachers, staff, would-be employers, funding agencies and society in general.


The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of the institution. The steering committee ofIQAC meets several times in a year for deciding and implementing the following tasks:

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks / parameters.
  • Dissemination of information on quality aspects.
  • Organization of discussions, workshops, seminars and promotion of quality circles.
  • Recording and monitoring quality measures of the institution.
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the institution for quality-related activities.
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report and such other reports as may be decided from time to time.


  • To sustain & enhance quality & effectiveness of curriculum, co – curriculum and extracurricular activities
  • To measure and document actual performance and provide feedback for improvement
  • To provide training for faculties and students to utilize the state of art educational technologies and research facilities

Working Mechanism of IQAC

  • Development and application of quality benchmark
  • To determine parameters for various activities of the institution
  • Periodic revision of feedback forms
  • Collection and analysis of feedback forms
  • Dissemination of information on various quality parameters
  • Organizing workshops, Seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
  • Acting as an intermediary of the institution for coordinating quality related activities including adoption and dissemination of best practices
  • Development and maintenance of institutional database
  • Periodical conduct of academic and administrative audit (AAA) and its follow-ups
  • Preparation and submission of AQAR as per the guidelines and parameters of NAAC
