The anti-ragging cell is established to prevent and address ragging and harassment in the college campus. Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. Encourage student participation and leadership in anti-ragging efforts. Support and counsel victims to ensure
their well-being and safety. Continuously review and improve anti-ragging measures to ensure a ragging – free campus.

November 26 – Awareness Campaign

On November 26, 2025, the Anti-Ragging Cell conducted an impactful awareness session focused on Individual Rights and fostering healthy relationships between senior and junior students. Lead coordinator Mr. Bristo Mathew emphasized transitioning from traditional hierarchies to a mentorship-based culture.

​​Legal Empowerment: Educating students on their fundamental rights and the legal protections against harassment.

​Mentorship: Encouraging seniors to guide juniors, ensuring a smooth transition into college life.

​Conflict Resolution: Practical tips for maintaining mutual respect and open communication across batches.

​Peer Support: Highlighting the role of positive social bonds in reducing academic stress.

November 10 –Peer Teaching

To further support new students, a peer teaching initiative was introduced. Under this program, senior students mentor and assist juniors in both academic and personal development, thereby fostering a culture of support and camaraderie

August 14 – Fresher’s Day Celebrations programme Arambhikalama

The Cultural Cell of the College organized the Freshers’ Day programme Arambhikalama on 14th August 2025 in the College Auditorium. The event aimed at welcoming the first-year students and giving them an opportunity to express their talents and interact with the larger college community. The programme witnessed the presence of faculty members, senior students, and freshers, making it a lively and memorable occasion.

The formal function began at 11:30 a.m. with the Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Nisha Mariya George, Cultural Cell Coordinator, who extended warm greetings to all. This was followed by the Presidential Address by Rev. Dr. Baby Sebastian, who highlighted the importance of Freshers’ Day in fostering confidence and togetherness among students.

The programme was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ms. Nisha Joshy, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Pala, who delivered an inspiring address encouraging students to work hard, stay disciplined, and grow as responsible individuals. The gathering was then felicitated by Fr. Martin Kallarackal, Bursar, who appreciated the initiative of the Cultural Cell and motivated students to make use of the opportunities provided by the institution. The formal session concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Vishnu, Ex-Chairman, who acknowledged the contributions of everyone involved.

Following the formal session, the stage came alive with seven cultural programmes performed by the first-year students of various departments. These included dances, songs, and skits that reflected the creativity and enthusiasm of the Freshers. The performances were met with great applause and added to the vibrancy of the day.

The event, conducted for the entire college, provided a platform for new students to showcase their abilities and integrate with the campus culture. The programme successfully concluded by 1:30 p.m., leaving a spirit of joy, unity, and celebration among the college community.

July 14 – Anti Ragging Cell Committee

The first meeting of the Anti-Ragging Cell was held on 14th July 2025. During this session, Mr. Bristo Mathew was appointed as the Faculty Coordinator. Additionally, the following members were officially inducted into the Anti-Ragging Squad committee:

July 12 – Induction Programme

An Induction Programme was successfully organized by the Anti-Ragging Cell of BVM Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal on 12th July 2025, aimed at fostering a safe, inclusive, and friendly environment for the newly admitted first-year students.

Group Song Presentation:

A heart-warming group song was performed jointly by senior and junior students. This symbolic gesture helped in reducing the emotional gap between batches and promoted a culture of friendship, mutual respect, and harmony within the college community.

The programme was conducted in a welcoming and positive atmosphere, which significantly contributed to building trust and easing the transition of first-year students into college life. The active involvement of both seniors and juniors emphasized the college’s commitment to a ragging-free and student-friendly campus.

July 10 – Strategic Planning and Awareness

During this meeting, the committee focused on fostering positive interactions between senior and junior students. Key decisions included:

  • Encouraging active participation in Fresher’s Day celebrations to promote unity and inclusivity.
  • Initiating the process to obtain a “Clean Certificate for Ragging-Free Campus” from the Kidangoor Police Station.

The Anti-Ragging Cell shared its emergency contact number – 9846540157 – with all students. The purpose was to ensure that the students are aware of the support system in place to handle any issues related to ragging or harassment on campus.
