The Department of Computer Science in association with IQAC of Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal organized a programme titled “Yoga for Enriching Mindset” on 10 March 2026 from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm at Class Room C2. The session was handled by Sereen Maria Cyriac, who demonstrated simple yoga postures, breathing exercises, and mindfulness techniques to help students develop a positive and balanced mindset. The programme aimed to improve mental clarity, emotional stability, and overall well-being while encouraging a healthy and disciplined lifestyle among students. A total of 20 students, including Integrated MSc Computer Science first and second year students and BSc Cyber Forensic students, actively participated in the session.
The Department of Computer Science of Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal organized a seminar on “Fundamentals of Research Methodology” on 04 March 2026 at Classroom C2 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The session was handled by Dr. Binoy Vincent, who shared his expertise on the essential aspects of research and the systematic methods used in academic investigations. The seminar aimed to provide students with a basic understanding of research concepts and methodologies. Research plays a significant role in academic learning as it enables students to explore new ideas, develop analytical thinking, and contribute to knowledge development. The session helped participants understand how research is conducted in a structured and scientific manner
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between RedTeam Hacker Academy, Kochi and the Department of Computer Science, Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College (BVM HCC), Cherpunkal on 20th February 2026 at 2:30 PM. The MoU was established to promote academic collaboration, skill development, and technical training in the field of cybersecurity, ethical hacking, and digital forensics.
The ceremony was conducted at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal, in the presence of faculty members and representatives from RedTeam Hacker Academy. Four team members from RedTeam Hacker Academy attended the programme, along with six staff members from the Department of Computer Science.
The MoU was signed to strengthen cooperation between the institution and the industry partner by facilitating training programmes, workshops, internships, and knowledge-sharing sessions for students. This collaboration aims to enhance students’ practical skills and provide exposure to real-world cybersecurity practices.
During the session, both parties discussed the importance of industry–academic partnerships in preparing students for the evolving challenges in the field of cybersecurity and information technology. The representatives from RedTeam Hacker Academy also shared their insights about the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals and the importance of practical training for students.
The signing of the MoU marked the beginning of a collaborative partnership that will benefit students by providing opportunities for technical training, skill enhancement, and career development in the domain of cybersecurity. The ceremony concluded with mutual appreciation and a commitment to work together for future academic and professional development initiatives.
The Department of Computer Science of Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal organized an awareness session titled “Think Before You Click – Overview of Everyday Cybersecurity” on 20th February 2026 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. Jovan Mini Theater. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of cybersecurity and safe digital practices in everyday life.
The session was led by Mr. Febin Ani, Cybersecurity Researcher, who served as the resource person for the programme. During the session, the speaker explained various cybersecurity concepts and highlighted the common cyber threats faced by individuals in the digital world. He discussed the importance of protecting both personal and institutional data and emphasized the need for responsible use of digital devices and online platforms.
The resource person also introduced several practical safety measures that students can follow in their daily digital activities. These included creating strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, identifying phishing attempts, and practicing safe browsing habits. The session also highlighted the risks associated with careless online behavior and provided guidance on how to avoid cyber attacks.
The 3-Day Hands-on Cybersecurity Boot Camp was organized from 26 January 2026 to 28 January 2026 by IPCS Global in collaboration with the Department of Computer, Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal. The programme was conducted as a batch workshop under the theme “Technology Enhancement.” The workshop aimed to enhance students’ practical knowledge and technical skills in the field of cybersecurity.
The programme was specifically designed for the students of BSc Cyber Forensics and S2 DSC B, providing them with hands-on training and exposure to modern cybersecurity practices. The sessions were coordinated by Ms. Smitha Jacob and Ms. Athira Lal from the Department of Computer.
The boot camp was conducted over three days, with sessions scheduled on 26 January 2026 and 27 January 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and on 28 January 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. During the workshop, the resource persons from IPCS Global introduced students to various aspects of cybersecurity, including basic security concepts, cyber threats, ethical hacking awareness, and digital safety practices.
The programme included practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, which helped students understand the techniques used to identify vulnerabilities, prevent cyber attacks, and protect digital systems. The interactive nature of the sessions allowed students to actively engage with the trainers and gain practical insights into real-world cybersecurity challenges.
Overall, the 3-Day Hands-on Cybersecurity Boot Camp proved to be a valuable learning experience for the participants. The workshop enhanced their technical knowledge, improved their practical skills in cybersecurity, and motivated them to explore further opportunities in the field of cyber forensics and digital security.
The Feedback Session after ASSET Inauguration was conducted on 20th August 2025 at 01:10 PM at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal. The session was organized to collect feedback from students regarding the ASSET inauguration programme and the awareness session conducted as part of the event.
A total of five participants attended the session and shared their views and suggestions about the programme. The participants expressed that the programme was informative and useful, especially in creating awareness about cyber security and digital safety.
During the discussion, the students also suggested organizing more interactive sessions, workshops, and awareness programmes in the future. The feedback received from the participants will help in planning and improving future programmes organized under the ASSET association.
The Cyber Forensics Principles – Awareness Session was conducted on 19th August 2025 at 10:30 AM at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about cyber security, cyber crimes, and the principles of cyber forensics in the modern digital world. A total of 109 participants, including students and faculty members, attended the session.
The technical session was led by Mr. Subin P V, Civil Police Officer, Cyber Cell, Kottayam, who served as the resource person for the programme. During his session, he explained the increasing risks of cyber attacks in the digital era and highlighted the possibility of Nano-level cyber attacks that can occur through everyday digital devices.
The speaker emphasized the importance of maintaining an alert and responsible mindset while using mobile phones, computers, and other digital devices in today’s interconnected world. He explained various small and often unnoticed hacking possibilities that can occur through social media, suspicious links, unknown applications, insecure passwords, and unsafe internet usage.
To make the session more informative and practical, the speaker shared real-life cybercrime cases handled by the Cyber Cell, Kottayam, which helped the students understand how cyber crimes occur and how they can be prevented. He also introduced several government cyber security portals, helplines, and digital tools that can be used to report cyber crimes and protect personal devices from cyber attacks.
The Principal, Dr. Baby Sebastian, and Head of the Department, Mr. Binu M B, appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of cyber awareness among students in the digital age. The session concluded with a message encouraging students to use digital technology responsibly and to remain vigilant against cyber threats. The programme proved to be highly informative and helped students gain a better understanding of cyber safety and digital security practices.

The session began with a warm welcome to the gathering, followed by the formal inauguration of the ASSET association by the Chief Guest, Mr. Jayachandran PN, Sub Inspector of Police, Cyber Cell, Kottayam. During the inaugural address, the chief guest delivered an informative and thought-provoking talk on Cyber Forensics Principles and Cyber Safety. He explained in detail how cyber crimes are increasing in modern society, especially among the youth. The session highlighted the daily cyber threats faced by individuals, including hacking, online fraud, misuse of personal information, and digital identity theft.
Mr. Jayachandran PN also discussed the common loopholes in the use of mobile phones and digital devices, explaining how careless use of social media, insecure passwords, suspicious links, and unknown applications can make users vulnerable to cyber attacks. He advised students to be more cautious while using the internet and digital platforms and stressed the importance of cyber awareness, responsible digital behaviour, and data protection.
The Association (ASSET) Inauguration Announcement was made on 18th August 2025 at 12:25 pm at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal. The announcement was organized to inform and invite all college students to participate in the inauguration and activities of the ASSET association for the academic year.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Smitha Jacob, Faculty Coordinator. During the session, the objectives and purpose of ASSET were introduced to the students, highlighting its role in promoting academic excellence, creativity, and active participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The importance of student involvement in association programmes was also emphasized.
To make the announcement more engaging and memorable, the ASSET student members presented a dance performance, which added enthusiasm and attracted the attention of the students. In addition, five students presented the ASSET letter board presentation, creatively displaying the name of the association and symbolically announcing the upcoming inauguration programme.
The ASSET General Body Meeting was held on 12th August 2025 at 10:53 AM at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal. The meeting aimed to discuss the activities, plans, and future initiatives of ASSET for the academic year. A total of 24 participants attended the meeting, including students and faculty members.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Smitha Jacob, Faculty Coordinator. The meeting began with an introduction to the objectives and functions of ASSET and highlighted the importance of student participation in various academic and extracurricular activities. The members discussed the activities conducted previously and shared suggestions for organizing new programmes and initiatives that would benefit the students.

The Department of Computer Science at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal, organized an engaging and insightful seminar titled “AI Horizons Series” on 11th July 2025. The event began at 9:00 AM at the college’s Mini Theatre and was attended by 35 students. The participants were from diverse academic backgrounds, including B.Com Computer Application, Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), and Integrated MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) programs. The objective of the seminar was to introduce students to practical AI tools and their real-world applications, with a strong emphasis on responsible and ethical usage.
The session commenced with an inaugural address by Rev. Dr. Baby Sebastian, Principal of BVM HCC. He spoke about the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in education and industry, encouraging students to embrace AI tools to enhance productivity, creativity, and innovation. His inspiring words set the stage for a dynamic and enriching series of sessions.
The event featured a sequence of focused presentations conducted by Semester 3 students of the Integrated MSc (AI & ML) in an open mic format. The first session, by Erin Vincent, explored AI tools for creative media, including video, audio, and image generation. This was followed by Jewel Joseph, who presented on AI tools that enhance productivity in educational contexts. Anumodu Manoj then introduced coding-centric AI tools, demonstrating how they simplify and accelerate software development tasks.
The seminar continued with Govind B highlighting AI tools used in content creation and writing, while Jovise Vadakkeparambil Jaison discussed how AI is transforming the marketing industry. The final presentation was delivered by Eileen Mary Babu, who focused on AI design platforms and image editing tools. Each speaker provided hands-on demonstrations and relevant examples, which helped participants gain a better understanding of the tools’ practical uses.
The seminar concluded with a Question & Answer session, where students actively interacted with the presenters, followed by a formal Vote of Thanks acknowledging the contributions of all involved in making the event a success.
This workshop effectively fulfilled its goals by familiarizing students with modern AI tools, improving their confidence in using technology, and instilling a sense of ethical responsibility. The event offered valuable peer-led learning opportunities and demonstrated the potential of AI to enhance everyday academic and professional tasks.

The PTA meeting for the S3 BCA (2023 Admission) batch was held on 13th November 2024 at St. Genesius Theatre, with 28 parents attending. The meeting began with a prayer and a welcome address by Ms. Brigit Thomas, emphasizing collaboration between parents and the college for students’ growth. Principal Rev. Dr. Baby Sebastian highlighted parental involvement, student participation in part-time work, and unique college initiatives like German and French language classes, PTE coaching, and the B-Mobility Centre. HOD Mr. Binu M.B. stressed time management, consistency, and practical learning. An open interaction session gathered valuable feedback from parents, followed by a vote of thanks from Ms. Jaise Jose. The meeting concluded at 3:00 PM, with refreshments and one-on-one sessions where parents discussed their children’s progress with class teachers, fostering a supportive environment for student development.

The Department of Computer Science of Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, under the aegis of ASSET (Association of Staff and Students Empowering Technology), organized an insightful and interactive session titled “Techconnect: Insights from an Industry Expert” on 15th October 2024 at St. Genesius Theatre. The event was coordinated by Ms. Deepa George, the ASSET Coordinator, with Mr. James George, ASSET President, serving as the student coordinator. The keynote speaker for the program was Mr. MGK Vishnu, CEO and Founder of Faircode Infotech Pvt. Ltd.
Due to the limited seating capacity of the venue, accommodating only 170 attendees, the program was divided into two sessions. A total of 298 students from various classes of the Department of Computer Science participated in the program.
The first session commenced promptly at 10:00 AM with a prayer. Following the invocation, Mr. James George, ASSET President, extended a warm welcome to the gathering, setting the tone for the event. The presidential address was delivered by Mr. Binu M.B., Head of the Department of Computer Science, who highlighted the significance of staying updated with current technological trends.
The keynote address by Mr. MGK Vishnu was the highlight of the session. Drawing from his vast experience as the CEO and founder of a leading tech company, he captivated the audience with insights into the latest technological advancements and shared anecdotes from his entrepreneurial journey. He emphasized the importance of critical thinking, continuous learning, and adaptability in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. The session concluded at 11:30 AM with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Anusha Mary George, a student of the S1 BCA A batch.
The second session began at 11:35 AM with a prayer. This session mirrored the first in structure and content. The welcome speech for the second session was delivered by Mr. Jobin Biju, a student of S5 BCA B, who expressed his excitement about the opportunity to hear from an industry expert.
Mr. MGK Vishnu once again delivered an engaging and thought-provoking session, reiterating the importance of staying curious and leveraging technological opportunities. His dynamic presentation style and relatable examples resonated with the students, sparking lively discussions. The session ended on a special note, with the resource person performing a song that enthralled the audience and left a lasting impression. A career program conducted by IQAC & Department of Computer Science On October 9 2024 to explore opportunities in Red Hat Technologies, Cloud DevOps Automation, and AI . The resource person was Mr. Szen John Providence, Manager Technical Services at IPSR Solutions. The programme took place at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College on 9th October 2024 at St. Genesius theater. The programme was coordinated by Remimol P Thomas with the Head of Department of Computer science , Binu M.B and IQAC coordinator Dr. Bhagyasree B. The programme commenced at 10.00 am. 276 students from the computer science department attended the programme.
The programme began at 10.00am with a prayer song by Ann Jo Mathew of S5 BCA. Gayathri Krishnan of S5 BCA greeted the audience with the welcome speech. Binu M.B, HOD of the Computer Science department delivered the keynote address and gave a brief introduction to the programme.
The program, held in two sessions from 10:00 to 11:30 and 11:30 to 1:00, aimed to enhance development, refine skills, and build confidence among students, preparing them for professional success and leadership roles that drive global prosperity. Mr. Providence, an esteemed expert with credentials including MSc, RHCA, and RHCI, shared valuable insights and expertise to empower participants.
The program aligned perfectly with BVM’s vision of creating a brave new world where empowered youth provide value-driven leadership in the emerging global scenario. By participating in this career program, students took a significant step towards achieving BVM’s mission of becoming intellectually alert, socially committed, and morally upright leaders. The sessions equipped participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in cutting- edge technologies like Red Hat, Cloud DevOps, and AI. With this program, BVM reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing dynamic youth who will make a positive impact in the global community, ensuring life in abundance for all. In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, full stack web development has become a crucial skill set
for modern developers. To bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements,
FutureTech Labs, Kochi, organized a comprehensive 3-day Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp from
12th to 14th August 2024 and the CEO Mr. Aravind himself was present to conduct the bootcamp. The bootcamp was designed to provide participants with a solid understanding of both front-end and back-
end development through a blend of theoretical instruction and hands-on lab sessions. By the end of the program, participants were equipped with the skills necessary to develop and deploy functional web applications effectively.
On August 8, 2024, the Open Auditorium hosted the inauguration of the Association of Staff and Students Empowering Technology (ASSET). The event began promptly at 10:30 AM, marked by an engaging Prayer Dance performed by Ms. Kavya Anilkumar, a student from S5BCA B, which set a vibrant tone for the ceremony. Mr. James George, the ASSET President, then welcomed the attendees with a heartfelt speech, outlining the goals and aspirations of the new association. Following this, Fr. Dr. Baby Sebastian, the Principal, delivered the Presidential Address. In his speech, Fr. Sebastian emphasized the importance of synergy between staff and students in leveraging technology for academic and professional growth. The inaugural address was given by Dr. Bruce Mathew, a distinguished alumnus. Dr. Mathew provided valuable insights into the rapidly evolving field of technology and its implications for various sectors, offering inspiration and guidance for the future. The ceremony included a musical interlude featuring a solo song performed by Mr. Adheep K. J and Mr. Deon Jose, both students from S3 BCA A. Their performance was a highlight ofthe event, adding a touch of artistic expression to the proceedings. Mr. Binu M.B, Head of the Department of Computer Science, conducted the Felicitation segment, recognizing and honoring the contributions of various individuals to ASSET’s establishment and growth. Ms. Renju M.K, ASSET Secretary, concluded the formal proceedings with a Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the inauguration. The event concluded with a series of cultural programs presented by students, showcasing their talents and adding a festive atmosphere to the occasion. 267 Students participated in theevent. The inauguration ceremony wrapped up at 1:00 PM, marking a successful beginning for ASSET and setting the stage for future activities and collaborations.

The Hardware Workshop is a programme conducted by Computer Science department with the objective of providing an opportunity for students to learn about computer hardware. The Hardware Workshop took place at BVM Holy Cross College on 2nd November 2023 in the Open Auditorium. The program was coordinated by Mr. Rajeev P.R with the Head of Department of Computer Science Mr. Binu M.B and the IQAC coordinator Mr. Jephin Jose. The program commenced by 2.30pm and concluded by 3:30pm.
The program was began with a prayer song by Julie Mathew, Renju M.K and Lakshmi Rajan of S1 BCA B batch. Sneha Sony greeted the audience with the welcome speech. Rev Dr. Baby Sebastian Thonikuzhi, the principal of BVM Holy Cross College, gave the presidential address. Mr. Jitto Joseph of S1 BCA B batch were the resource person of the hardware workshop. The felicitation was given by the IQAC coordinator Mr. Jephin Jose. The vote of thanks was given by student of S1 BCA Midhun Biju, making the program a success. The inauguration ended successfully at around 3.30pm. The topic for Hardware Workshop is ‘Raspberry Pi’.
ASSET (Association of Staff and Student Empowering Technology) is an association formed by the computer science department with the objective of providing an opportunity for the staff and students for self-development and technological empowerment. Its aim is to share the new IT trends and techniques among the audience.
The ASSET Inauguration took place at BVM Holy Cross College on 30th October 2023 in the Open Auditorium. The program was coordinated by Mr. Rajeev P.R with the Head of Department of Computer Science Mr. Binu M.B and the IQAC coordinator Mr. Jephin Jose. The program commenced by 2.00 pm and concluded by 2:45 pm. The program was attended by all the Computer Science students.
