Electoral Literacy Club

The BVM Holy Cross College Electoral Literacy club was formed as per the direction of the Central Election Commission of India to give awareness and guidance to the student community about the Electoral process. This is the official group which is monitored by the District Election commissioner.

ELC focuses on creating awareness of the ‘Right to Vote’ among the students, faculty and the general public. The club through various activities aims to promote electoral literacy in every citizen irrespective of age, caste or gender and to grow civic consciousness in each citizen.

 Objectives

  • To give electoral awareness to the students
  • To give assistance to Electoral enrollment processes and voting
  • To acquaint the students to electoral rights
  • To instil in the upcoming voters the culture of electoral participation
  • To impart in the students the significance of voting

August 16 & 17- Your Vote Your Voice Campaign

Emerging Social Worker’s Association of Department of Social Work & Electoral Cell of BVM Holy Cross College Cherpunkal jointly organized Your Vote; Your Voice campaign on the 16 th &17 th of August 2023. It was a great opportunity for the student community to be part of the democratic process of the country by enrolling their names to the voter’s list and the campaign reminded that voting is a fundamental right and duty of every citizen. Mr Bristo Mathew (Faculty Social Work Dept. & Faculty Coordinator ESWA), Mr Janson Varghese (Faculty, Social Work Department) & Mr Jephin Jose (Faculty, Computer Science Department & Electoral Cell Coordinator) were the coordinators of the campaign. Mr. Alwin Reji of S5 BSW served as the Student Coordinator of the campaign.
