Motto: Empower your passion to reality

The Entrepreneurship Development Club of our college nurture the latent entrepreneurial talents of our students. We arrange a good platform to our students to develop their entrepreneurial skills. The Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Kerala, formulated a Scheme to set up “Entrepreneurship Development Clubs in colleges of the state to inculcate “entrepreneurship Culture “among the Youth. In association with that our college Entrepreneurship Development Club started functioning from 25, October 2022. The College has established an entrepreneurship promotion centre entitled ‘De Stijil, where exhibitions and sales of goods made by students as well as faculty are made available.

Objectives

  • Develop awareness among its member’s values, and skills of successful entrepreneurs around the globe.
  • To inculcate entrepreneurship qualities, to sensitise industrial scenario of the state to our students.
  • To give a space to our students to turn their ideas and passions into businesses.
  • Give training to our students about self-employment ideas.
  • To inculcate entrepreneurial culture among the students.

February 4- Food Fest

 The Food Fest 2026 was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Club and Department of Commerce of Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal, on 4 February 2026 at the Open Auditorium. The event was inaugurated by Sri. Jaison Joseph, Principal of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Cherpunkal, and the first sale was conducted by Rev. Dr. Baby Sebastian, Principal of BVM Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal. The fest was conducted as a batch-wise/department-wise food fest competition, where students set up and managed their own food counters, showcasing their culinary skills, creativity, marketing strategies, and teamwork. The event was evaluated based on criteria such as taste and quality, marketing mix, hygiene and safety, counter decoration, waste management, and financial planning including profit and loss account preparation. The program, held from 10 AM to 3 PM, attracted enthusiastic participation from students and visitors, making it a lively and engaging event that promoted entrepreneurial skills and practical business experience among students.

September – Banana Chips

The Entrepreneurship Development Club of Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal, in association with the Department of Commerce and Management, has initiated the production and sale of Banana Chips under a student entrepreneurship project. This initiative aims to promote entrepreneurial skills, teamwork, and practical business experience among students.

July 14 – Orientation Programme on Entrepreneurship

The Entrepreneurship Development Club of Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal organized an Orientation Programme on Entrepreneurship on 14 July 2025 at the B-Hub of the college. The programme aimed to introduce students to the concept of entrepreneurship and motivate them to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. It provided insights into the skills and attitudes required to start small ventures and encouraged students to explore innovative business ideas. The session helped participants understand the opportunities and challenges involved in entrepreneurship and inspired them to think creatively about self-employment and business development.

July 4 – CELEBRATING MSMEs: BACKBONE OF THE GLOBAL ECONOMY

The ED Club in association with the Department of Commerce, Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal, organized a special event titled “Celebrating MSMEs: Backbone of the Global Economy” to commemorate MSME Day. The event was held on 4th July 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mini Theatre. The primary goal of the program was to raise awareness among students about the importance and contributions of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the global economy. The session successfully enhanced student knowledge about the critical role of MSMEs in economic development. Participants gained insights into various policies, classifications, and registration procedures related to MSMEs, equipping them with essential knowledge for academic and entrepreneurial pursuits

June 23-Reality After Education

The Department of Computer Applications in association with Entrepreneurship Development club at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal, conducted an entrepreneurship-oriented seminar titled “Reality After Education” on 23rd June 2025 at the Seminar Hall. The session aimed to help students understand the importance of real-world skillsets and the role of entrepreneurship in shaping their future career paths.

The resource panel consisted of Mr. Vishnu Vijayan, Mr. Nandhu Krishnan, Mr. Arjun Biju, and Mr. K. Jayakrishnan from CodexHub. The speakers shared valuable insights on entrepreneurial mindset, industry requirements, and the challenges and opportunities available for budding entrepreneurs.

Students were encouraged to ask questions, engage in discussions, and explore pathways to begin their entrepreneurial journey. The interactive nature of the session helped students reflect on career choices beyond traditional employment models.

The event was coordinated by Ms. Anjala Michael and Ms. Amalda Patrick, under the guidance of the Head of Department, Ms. Seena S. Nair. The programme received wholehearted support from the Principal, Rev. Dr. Baby Sebastian.

By the end of the session, students gained confidence, awareness, and clarity about the process of becoming an entrepreneur and expressed interest in future follow-up training

January 29- Food Fest
December 18- ED Wednesday Market

The ED Club of BVM Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal, organized an ED Market on December 18, 2024, at the ED Store. The market featured handmade Christmas wreaths and homemade ghee prepared by students, reflecting their creativity and entrepreneurial skills. The event provided students with a practical learning experience, enabling them to understand various aspects of entrepreneurship such as product creation, pricing, and sales strategies. The initiative received enthusiastic support from the community, leading to successful sales and positive feedback.
This hands-on activity not only showcased the students’ talents but also served as an effective platform for them to gain confidence and develop essential business skills. The ED Market was a resounding success, reinforcing the importance of experiential learning in fostering entrepreneurial growth.

December 14- ED Market at Future World Summit

The ED Club of BVM Holy Cross College organized an ED Market as part of the Future World Summit hosted by the Bloom Bloom Educational Platform on December 14, 2024. The summit took place at Mar Sleeva Parish Hall, with the ED Market arranged in the main corridor of the parish hall.
Students and teachers actively participated by bringing a variety of homemade food items for sale. The market was well-received, drawing a significant crowd of attendees from the summit and the local community.
The event was a resounding success, fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students and creating a platform for showcasing their culinary and organizational skills. It also provided an opportunity
for networking and community engagement. The collaborative effort of the students, teachers, and organizers ensured the event’s seamless execution and overall achievement.

December 4- Campus Creators Market

The Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Club of BVM Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal, inaugurated its weekly initiative, the “ED’s Wednesday Market,” on December 4th 2024. The event was graced by the presence of Rev Fr. Baby Sebastian, Principal of BVM College, who officially inaugurated the market.
Following the inauguration, the first sale was conducted by Dr. V. V. Georgekutty, Dean of Studies, marking the formal commencement of this entrepreneurial endeavor. The market showcased a variety of student and teacher-driven innovative products and services. The primary outcome of this initiative is to foster an innovative environment within the college, enabling participants to develop essential entrepreneurial skills such as marketing, communication, and business management. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and visitors, setting a promising tone for future editions of the Wednesday Market. This platform is expected to nurture creativity, self-reliance, and entrepreneurial thinking among students, aligning with the club’s mission to promote a culture of innovation.

November 12- Honouring Entrepreneurs

The 8th edition of the Honouring Entrepreneurs Series was held with the distinguished presence of Dr. Lissy Fernandes, a renowned film producer, known for her significant contribution to the Malayalam film industry, particularly for producing the critically acclaimed movie Swargam. The event aimed to provide students with valuable entrepreneurial insights and skills necessary for success in the film and media industry.
Objective of the Event:
The primary objective of the event was to expose students to the entrepreneurial aspects of the film and media industry, focusing on how producers navigate challenges, manage projects, and create successful content. By engaging with an industry expert like Dr. Lissy Fernandes, students had the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about film production, financing, distribution, and marketing.

    Dr. Lissy Fernandes shared her experiences from her early days in the industry to her rise as a producer of influential films. She elaborated on the importance of vision, persistence, and creativity in the media industry, encouraging students to embrace innovation and think entrepreneurially. She

    Dr. Fernandes detailed the complex process of film production, from script selection to post-production. She emphasized the need for strong leadership, effective team coordination, and financial management in bringing a film to life.     Addressing the challenges faced by producers, Dr. Fernandes discussed the role of adaptability, understanding market trends, and how to deal with financial constraints. Her focus on risk management and strategic planning provided valuable lessons for aspiring film entrepreneurs.

    The session included an interactive Q&A segment where students had the opportunity to ask Dr. Lissy Fernandes questions related to the business side of filmmaking, the creative process, and the evolving trends in the media industry.

October 9- Industrial Visit

ED Club in association with IQAC of our college organised an industrial visit on 9th october 2024, to Priyadarsini Cooperative Spinning Mills Ltd., Kottayam. The visit was aimed at providing students practical exposure to the cotton production process, understanding the operations of a cooperative industry, and gaining insights into its significance in the textile industry.

September 9- Awareness about new entrepreneurial venture and Honouring Teachers

On 9th september 2024, an entrepreneurial awareness talk was conducted by Dr. Binoy Vincent, focusing on the newly launched venture, COOBA Food Products. This initiative aims not only to introduce innovative food offerings but also to honor teachers in the community by gifting them these products.Dr. Binoy Vincent conducted an engaging awareness talk on entrepreneurship development, emphasizing the significance of innovative thinking and adaptability in today’s market. He highlighted the importance of identifying niche opportunities and aligning business ideas with community needs. Attendees learned about essential skills for entrepreneurs, including financial literacy and effective networking. Dr. Binoy Vincent encouraged participants to embrace challenges as learning experiences and to leverage local resources. Overall, the session inspired aspiring entrepreneurs to take proactive steps toward launching their ventures.

July 24- GALA 2k24 Arts and Craft Exhibition

On the 24th of July, the Seminar Hall was abuzz with creativity and enthusiasm as it hosted the
much-anticipated Art and Craft Exhibition, GALA2k24 organised by ED Club. This event showcased the remarkable artistic and craft skills of our students and teachers, turning the hall into a vibrant display of talent and innovation.
The exhibition was inaugurated with great enthusiasm by our esteemed Principal, Rev. Dr. Baby Sebastian.
The exhibition featured a diverse array of art and craft works, each reflecting the creativity and dedication of the participants. Students and teachers had prepared and presented their pieces in an exceptionally well-organized manner, creating an impressive and visually appealing gallery of work. The displays included everything from intricate paintings and sculptures to innovative craft projects, all demonstrating the high level of skill and originality within our community.
A highlight of the exhibition was the announcement of a cash prize of Rs. 1000, which will be awarded to the best art or craft work. In addition to the main prize, all participants of the exhibition will be honored with participation certificates, acknowledging their efforts and contributions to the event. These certificates serve as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication. Overall, GALA2k24 was a resounding success. The exhibition not only highlighted the exceptional talent of our students and teachers but also fostered a sense of community and appreciation for the arts.

December 20- December Expo 2k23

The Entrepreneurship Development Club aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of students organized an exhibition and sale of Christmas decorations crafted by the students of our college. The  event, named “December Expo,” took place on December  20, 2023, at the DeStijl Store starting at 1:15 pm. DeStijl Store, established in 2021, serves as a platform for student entrepreneurs to showcase and sell the products made by them. The inauguration  ceremony was graced by Ms. Sheejamol Jacob, HOD, Department of Commerce. Dr. V.V. Georgekutty delivered a motivational message for the young entrepreneurs, and the event was effectively coordinated by Ms. Minu Abraham. Numerous students crafted variety of Christmas decorations, including stars, hangings, wreaths, and Christmas balls. The exhibition drew the attention of both teachers and students, resulting in many purchases of the unique and creative decors.

November 1-Food Fest

The Entrepreneurship Development Club successfully hosted “Food Fest 2k23” on November 1st, 2023. The event served as a platform for college students to showcase their culinary talents, foster entrepreneurial skills, and engage in on-the-spot food preparation. The fest featured a competitive element with prize money awarded to the best three teams, encouraging students to bring their A-game in the culinary arena.

September 20-Entrepreneur In Campus Alumni

Entrepreneur In Campus Alumni is a programme Organized by the ED Club to provide a platform for the students to meet and interact with the successful entrepreneurs among our alumni members. The resource person for this event was Mr. Josemon Edathadathil. The highlight of the program was the motivational talk delivered by the esteemed alumnus, Mr. Josemon Edathadathil. He shared insights from his personal and professional journey, emphasizing key lessons learned and challenges overcome. Mr. Edathadathil’s talk aimed to inspire and guide the current students, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations with dedication and perseverance.

September 13 – Bamboo Products Exhibition and sales@ ED Store

On the 13th of September, 2023, the Entrepreneurship Promotion Store “De Stijl” hosted an exhibition and sales event featuring a range of products produced by students and staff. The products showcased included, various bamboo items such as brooms and household accessories and salted mango, salted pineapple, salted gooseberry, salted carrot etc.

July 13 – Inauguration of ED Club

The activities of ED Club for the year 2023-2024 was inaugurated on July 13 2023 along with the logo launch. our Principal, Rev. Dr. Baby Sebastian Thonikuzhy delivered the presidential address. In his speech he mentioned the vision for the ED club and the purposes of the newly built ED store in the campus. He also spoke about the changing trends and the important role of ED club and the associated development of the ED start-ups. Chief guest Mr. SIVI PAUL MD and Founder United Logistics Company Kuwait was welcomed to inspired the audience with his experiences. He shared his experience and journey towards success with ED club members which included his failures that he encountered and lesson he learned from it. After the inaugural speech our Principal, The Chief Guest and the ED club coordinator launched the Logo.
