CSM is an organization made up mostly of Catholic students that provides resources and services for the moral development of all students on campus. It strives to promote the holistic personal growth and value-based development of students on campus. CSM engages in spiritual, cultural, and social activities in three dimensions to achieve this goal. ‘Catholic Students Movement’ conducts a programme named “Hridayapoorvam BVM” on every Wednesday with the cooperation and support of students and faculty of BVM, lending a hand to the humanitarian works done by the Shehalayam Old Age Home Pala. We provide meals every Wednesday for them. This programme was marked with great success as it aided in evoking empathy and a feeling of compassion towards the needy among the students. CSM conducts prayer sessions open to all on campus. Students are encouraged and directed towards social activity in accordance with national needs.

he CSM members organized a program called “CAKE VANDI” for the underprivileged in and around our college on 21/12/23. The purpose of this program is to further the Christmas concept of sharing with those in need. This will increase everyone’s tendency to be helpful and considerate, and those around us will love us more as a result. It was thought-provoking to see the smiles on the faces of those who received the cakes.
We have purchased about 50 cakes with funds raised by our college’s students and staff. On December 21st, we gave them the ones that were required. In order to do that, we got a car ready, started the distribution procedure in Cherpunkal, and continued on to Pala. This was a precious programme that we ever conducted.
On December 16, 2023 a visit to Boys Town, Snehalayam was organized by the students of Catholic Students Movement at Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherppunkal.
The staff coordinator for this program was Mrs Diviamol Thomas, Mathematics Department.
Program Highlights:
The main aim was to celebrate Christmas with the children who resided there. At 10 am, we arrived as a group of 20 members and gave our cake to Sr Mercy. The program’s initial event was a small inauguration function presided by Sr Pious. Next, we had organized a festive cake-cutting ceremony, bringing the children together to share in the joyous occasion. Christmas gifts were given to every child. Next, we had engaged in heartwarming carol songs with the children, creating a musical ambiance. We had also ensured active participation of the children, allowing them to showcase their enthusiasm and talents through carol songs and dances. Action songs were also introduced, encouraging the children to dance and express themselves freely. The energetic atmosphere created a sense of unity and celebration, enhancing the overall experience of the Christmas season.
Finally, we had lunch with the children and served them fried rice.
Also, we had the opportunity to visit a residence exclusively catering to elderly men. The purpose of the visit was to celebrate Christmas with them. Residents were encouraged to share their favorite Christmas memories and stories, creating a nostalgic and heartwarming atmosphere.
Celebrating Christmas with children and elderly was a fulfilling experience, reinforcing the importance of community and compassion during the holiday season. The combination of gift-giving, cake cutting, carol singing, and action songs contributed to a memorable celebration, fostering a sense of togetherness and spreading the spirit of Christmas.
